Railway Sleepers

If you are trying to add new dimensions to your garden by building new features such as raised beds or steps, trying to frame lawns and existing beds, or just building retaining walls, our sleepers are the ideal solution. We stock two types here at Lymefield, new softwood tannalized treated sleepers which have a natural timber appearance and a cleanly cut shape to them, or reclaimed railway sleepers which have a rustic charm, ingrained in to them with each containing unique features whilst retaining a consistent shape and sizing.

New Railway Sleepers

The New Sleepers which we stock are an extremely versatile option for when it comes to building and creating features within your garden. Whilst they are newly made which means they are cleanly cut and will fit in to any modern setting, they are also natural enough to fit in with a more traditional looking garden too. They are softwood and tannalized meaning that they are made to last, and are perfect for building raised beds as well as retaining walls and edging.

They are 2.4m in length, with a width of 24cm and a depth of 12cm.

Reclaimed Railway Sleepers

Our Reclaimed Hardwood Sleepers are formerly railway sleepers and as such have a used, worn look which can add character to any garden. They are extremely tough and durable and are ideal for edging around beds and borders, using to build garden steps (although not as foot pieces as they are slippery once wet), or just as a decorative feature.

They are 8 feet 6 inches in length, with a width of 10 inches and a depth of 6 inches. Naturally for a product of this nature imperfections are possible, but if you choose to order from us, we will always select the best possible sleepers out.
